Child Care Services Frequently Asked Questions

For prospective clients:

What ages of children are welcome at SIMA’S CHILD CARE?

Our child care welcomes toddlers (ages 18 to 30 months) and preschoolers (ages 31 to 60 months).

Is there space available for my child? When are new spaces available?

If space is available, your child can start as soon as his or her registration is complete with deposit, payment arrangements and completed immunizations records. If space is not available, he or she is put on our waiting list. Please register early to secure a space for your child.

What is the child to caregiver ratio at your day care?

For our toddlers, there is a ratio of 1 employee for every 5 children. For our preschoolers, there is a ratio of 1 employee for every 8 children. All of our daycare programs are supervised by a qualified staff member who has been approved by the Ministry of Education.

How much does daycare cost at SIMA’S CHILD CARE?

It depends on the services required and the age of the children. Please contact our Executive Administrator at 949-679-4211. We have full-time and part-time rates, full-day and half-day rates for toddlers and preschoolers.

Do you offer any child care family rates?

Unfortunately we don’t offer any family rates at this time. All fees are payable per-child basis.

Do children need to speak other language to attend SIMA’S CHILD CARE?

We welcome children who speak English or other languages. Our mission is to provide child care services in a bilingual-speaking environment.

Do children need to be potty trained to attend your child care?

No, we welcome children at all stages of potty training and we are great at helping children master potty training at Sima’s Childcare.

Is there a scheduled nap time for all age groups at your child care?

Yes, the Ministry of Education requires a scheduled rest time for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. We understand that some children might not feel comfortable with naptime so we have quiet, restful activities that they can take part in without disturbing the other sleeping children.

What kinds of foods and snacks are the children served?

At SIMA’S CHILD CARE, we serve meals that are based on US Food Guide. Children are given two snacks: one in the morning and one in the afternoon, along with a hot meal at lunch time.

Morning snack includes foods like milk with cereal (e.g. Cheerios or Corn Flakes) with pure juice, milk and muffins, milk and bagels, or milk and whole wheat bread with jam. The hot lunch meal always includes milk and a variety of beef casseroles, chicken, turkey and tuna dishes served with noodles, rice or potatoes. We also serve salmon and tuna sandwiches, vegetarian quesadillas and vegetarian pizzas on pita bread. Our lunches also include fresh vegetables like broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, green peppers and frozen peas and corn.

Afternoon snack includes water with yogurt and fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, raw vegetables (baby carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, celery, cherry tomatoes with hummus dip), or a muffin and fresh fruit. We have a large variety of dishes and introduce new foods regularly. On special occasions we serve cake when parents bring cake to share to celebrate their children’s birthdays.

Are there any items that I am responsible for once my child is enrolled?

Parents are only required to provide diapers and any infant-related food that might be required. Once your child can eat pureed foods, you will not need to send along any food with your child.

Can I visit SIMA’S CHILD CARE to see the facilities?

We invite all parents to come visit our child care center to see the facilities, meet the staff and get a feel for the general atmosphere. We want you to feel comfortable and confident in your childcare provider which is why we are so transparent. Please us to arrange a tour.

What is emergent curriculum?

Emergent curriculum is a teaching method that is based the interests and needs of a specific child. We determine exactly what your child needs by observing them at play and while they interact with their peers. This allows us to see their needs, interests and natural abilities. Our learning program encourages each child to advance at their own pace and uses objects that allow the child to experiment while promoting self-esteem.

For current clients:

What are the drop-off/pick-up times for day care?

Our hours of operation are as follows:

Monday to Friday: 7:30amto 6:00pm

Our office hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Are there any days of the year that the daycare center is closed?

Our daycare center is only closed on US statutory holidays.

What is your policy about children who are sick?

We do our very best to accommodate sick children and the needs of their working parents. If your child isn’t feeling well but is still able to take part in the program, they will be allowed to stay. However, if your child has a communicable illness, unfortunately they will have to stay home to prevent other children from also getting sick. When your child returns, we will administer any medication or antibiotics that are necessary.

If my child is sick or absent, will I have to pay fees for the days they miss?

Yes, once you have reserved your space, all Child care fees are payable whether or not your child attends.
